Profiles

1.  What is Profile?
A:   A profile is a collection of Settings and permissions that define how a user access records.
         A profile control a user’s permissions to perform different function in Salesforce
         A profile can have many users but a user can have only one profile.

2.  What we can control using profile?
Profile Control the following:
    1. PageLayouts: Which page layout the user Sees
    2. Field level Security: The  Fls restricts user’s access to view and edit fields.
    3. Custom Apps: Which Standard and Custom apps the user can view
    4. Tabs: Which tabs the user can view
    5.  RecordTypes: Which record types are available to the user.
     6. Login: The hours and Ip Addresses from which the user can Login
    7. Administrative: Generated and Object Permissions.
    8. Object Permission: The Object Permissions are divided into two sections, one for standard objects and another for custom objects.
Read, Create, Edit, Delete, View All, Modify All
Note: If we give view All and Modify All permissions at a profile Level, then the Security Controls will not Work, these permissions overrides the Security Controls.

3. How Many profiles we can assign to a single user?
A: Only One profile we can assign to a user.

4. Profiles are created based on ____?
 A: Profiles are created based on Licences.

5. How many types of profiles are there?
A:  There are two types of Profiles.
      1. Standard Profile and 2. Custom Profile
     These are Six Standard profiles:
               1. System Administrator
               2. Standard User
               3. Solution Manager
               4. Marketing User
               5. Contract Manager
               6. Read Only
      Standard profiles cannot be edited, but the Tab settings & app for standard profile are always          configurable
      Custom profiles are editable.


6. How to create a custom profile?
 A: First way of creating Custom Profile:
    Click on the Your Name à setup à Go to Administrator Setupà Click on Profiles à Click on the     “New Profile” button for creating a profile à Give Profile Name here
     Second way of creating a profile: Cloning the existing profile
     Click on “Clone” link for cloning the profile
    Give Profile Name here and click on “Save” button.

7. Can we deploy profiles from sandbox to Production?
 A: Yes, we can

8. Can we delete Standard Profiles?
A: No, we can’t

9. Can we delete Custom Profiles?
A:  Yes, we can delete

10. Which user can create a new profile?
A: System Admin user only can create a profile
